Megabass new Destroyer Evoluzion: Pioneering engineering 25 years later
Throughout human history, there have been many key events, fundamental milestones that have marked true turning points, whether in the technological, cultural, or political sphere. In the microcosm of artificial lure fishing, specifically concerning bass fishing, one of the events that technologically revolutionized this discipline is represented by the genius of Yuki Ito and Megabass. They created the "Destroyer Evolution" rod series, which utilizes a high modulus carbon composite blank (with a low resin percentage) and ultra-thin titanium fibers.
The fact that the first series in the world to use this type of material debuted a full 25 years ago allows us to understand how cutting-edge Ito Engineering was and still is."

Shape memory:
the ability to quickly return to its original position after being bent is very useful both during casting to increase distance and accuracy and during fish fighting. It is possible to obtain stiffer and more responsive blanks by using less material (carbon) and lightening the entire rod.

Design Award Winner
The iF DESIGN AWARD has been internationally recognized as one of the most prestigious design awards for over 67 years, and the iF logo is widely considered a symbol of excellent design. This award is divided into 9 categories: Product, Packaging, Communication, Service Design, Architecture, Interior/Interior, Professional Concept, User Experience (UX), User Interface (UI).

Megabass new Destroyer Evoluzion (MX40)
All previous Destroyer Evoluzion models possessed unique characteristics for torsion and elasticity, thanks to titanium, setting them apart from the original Destroyer blanks. Over the years, various blank construction technologies have been utilized, from D.N.A. Titanium composite, where the fibers were arranged in a double crossed helix (like DNA strands), to C40, where the titanium fibers are arranged parallel to the blank, increasing the blank's power and elasticity.

A quarter of a century later, Ito Engineering has developed a new high-modulus carbon composite blank with extremely low resin content, called MX40, and ultra-thin titanium fibers. The carbon fibers are cross-wrapped at a 45° angle, and the titanium fibers are arranged parallel, thus managing to use the least amount of material, making the rod extremely light. This new blank guarantees 17% higher torsion than the previous model, thanks to the shape memory fibers, incredible power reserve in the mid-section of the blank, and unique sensitivity due to the increased vibration transmission from the presence of titanium."

ITO ENGINEERING AIRY-FIT ERGONOMIC SEAT
The unique shaping, by using the absolute minimum areas of contact, it achieves a 'direct parming style' with an overwhelmingly lightweight feel, allowing the reel and blank to be gripped directly in an extremely natural form.
Aesthetics and attention to detail
Each model in the Destroyer Evoluzion series features an exclusive design. Particular attention has been paid to the aesthetics and finishes of these rods, starting with the blank's color, which shifts depending on how it's struck by light, in a shade called 'Galactic Strontium.' The screw in the spinning models' reel seat has a carbon-copper composite material finish, highlighting the piece's exclusivity and its skeletonized structure, derived from the one initially created for the Destroyer P5 and Cookai series.

Guide
As for the guides, they are equipped with Fuji titanium guides, specifically mounted for each model, with SiC-S inserts. The guide wrapping is masterfully executed by the Megabass team of expert craftsmen, who cover the foot of each guide with the minimum necessary amount of material, a special and unique work of art that uses 4 different types and shades of thread:
- - BASE-1: VERDE SCURO TOSCANA
- - PINLINE: MARRONE METALIZARD
- - BASE-2: BRITISH ARMY KHAKI
- - OUTER TRIM: STREAM GALAXY
